Wasteland Conflict System

The Wasteland is a lawless frontier where players must balance high-risk exploration with the constant threat of player-vs-player (PvP) encounters.

🏜️ The Wasteland (Adventure Mode)

Adventure Mode is not just about gathering materials; it’s an active PvP zone where your workers and resources are at risk.

1. Random Encounters

While exploring the Wasteland, players have a chance to trigger Conflict Events. These are not against AI, but against other active players currently in the Wasteland.

2. Potential Losses

If you are defeated or caught off-guard in a conflict, you face several types of penalties:

  • 📦 Material Theft: Aggressors can steal a percentage of the Wasteland Materials currently in your Adventure Inventory (Steel Plates, Wiring, Fasteners, etc.).

  • 💀 Worker Casualties: Your workforce is not invincible. Conflicts carry a risk of losing workers. If a worker becomes a casualty, they are permanently removed from your crew, reducing your maximum energy and gathering speed until replaced.

  • ⚡ Energy Drain: Surviving a conflict, even if you win, often leaves your crew exhausted, resulting in a significant energy penalty.

⚔️ Conflict Mechanics

The outcome of a Wasteland encounter is determined by several factors:

1. Combat Strength

Your defensive and offensive capabilities are influenced by:

  • Crew Size: A larger crew provides more "safety in numbers," making it harder for solo thieves to steal your goods.

  • Equipment: Certain crafted assets (to be implemented/expanded) provide bonuses to your conflict resolution.

2. The "Steal" Mechanic

Players with high Infamy or specific traits can choose to actively hunt others.

  • Success Rate: Success is based on the relative levels and crew sizes of the attacker and defender.

  • Cooldowns: After a successful raid or a narrow escape, players enter a Conflict Cooldown, preventing them from being targeted again immediately.

🛡️ Mitigating Risk

How to survive the lawless zones:

1. Secure Your Goods

  • Marketplace Sales: Materials listed on the marketplace are generally safe from wasteland theft.

  • Crafting: Converting raw materials into assets (like Ships or Facilities) "locks" their value, as these items cannot be stolen in standard wasteland conflicts.

2. Crew Resilience

  • Energy Levels: A crew with High Energy is more likely to fend off an attack or escape without casualties than an exhausted crew.

  • Worker Redundancy: Always keep a small reserve of Xirium to hire new workers immediately if you sustain casualties.

💡 Pro-Tips for Survivors

  • Watch Your Energy: Never venture deep into the Wasteland with less than 20% energy. You'll be a "sitting duck" for other players.

  • Gather & Deposit: Don't hoard materials in your inventory. Frequent trips to the crafting menu or marketplace to "use" your materials significantly reduces your profile as a target.

  • Safety in Levels: As you level up, your base defense increases, making it much harder for lower-level players to successfully steal from you.
